Our history

The story of St. Clemens Boys’ Choir is in short a tale of the making of an ambitious choir which included room for play, community and learning.
In May 2003 Carsten Seyer-Hansen together with Aarhus School of Music, took the initiative to create St. Clemens Boys’ Choir, and already in November the very same year, we hosted our first concert.
Currently the choir consists of 45 boys and men from the ages of 9-60. We host about ten Concerts a year and, when the opportunity presents itself, go on study trips both at home as well as abroad.
It has from the beginning been a vital philosophy that the boys meet other boys who sing, which is why we each year since the beginning have hosted a joint Christmas concert with The Boys’ Choir of Herning Church. We have sung concerts with the Boys’ and Mens Choir of Thisted Church and Haderslev Boys’ Choir.
On our own the choir has given concerts in Denmark, Germany, Holland, Belgium, and France and sung with among others: Concerto Copenhagen, Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, BaSix, Vocal Line and Kaare Norge.
The choir has since the beginning been associated with the Cathedral of Aarhus, and the teaching of the boys is in cooperation with Aarhus School of Music.
We are a choir with musical ambitions, and therefore have instruction from day one been on a high level. We are recognised by the State Art Council as a professional amateur choir and we have worked with a wide range of professional performers.
